Youth Employment

The CampGrace StreetLeaders program, ETC’s youth employment program hosted by UrbanPromise Trenton, helps teens ages 14-18 connect with year-round employment opportunities while providing ongoing academic, work readiness, and enrichment activities.  This holistic program is designed to support students during high school and prepare them for success after graduation.

In non-pandemic times students are placed at job sites at the East Trenton Center, at businesses in the neighborhood, and at nonprofit organizations citywide, where they receive on-the-job training in a variety of roles.  They also receive tutoring and homework help, complete service-learning activities, and attend regular enrichment workshops for financial literacy, health and well-being, college readiness, and much more.

ETC believes that a variety of education and recreation programming options are an important component of a healthy and active community.  Specifically, programs targeted to teens and their personal, educational, and economic opportunities are key to securing a successful future for themselves, their families, and the neighborhood at large.  ETC also recognizes that small businesses are community anchors, and that subsidized employment provides much-needed support for their continued service to the neighborhood.  The StreetLeaders program seeks to provide East Trenton teens safe and welcoming spaces for personal growth while supporting East Trenton businesses.
